Dr. Gerald Baltz is originally from St. Louis. He moved to New York City after high school. There he studied creative writing, secondary education, philosophy, and psychology. Dr. Baltz earned a degree in Creative Writing and briefly taught English Literature at the high school level. In the mid-1990’s, he left teaching to develop web pages and administrate computer networks for Fortune 500 companies.
After 9/11/2001, Dr. Baltz’s interests shifted to the mind, psychology, and complementary medicine, leading him to pursue his true calling.
He admired the resilience and compassion of nurses. Their focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and education drew him to the profession.
Dr. Gerald Baltz Experience
Dr. Baltz worked as a RN for two years on a complex adult/geriatric psychiatric unit. He earned his Master of Nursing in 2008 from Saint Louis University, completing his clinical practicum hours in a wide variety of settings, including Barnes-Jewish hospital, Rosati Group Home, and various private practices.
Dr. Baltz was fortunate to have a two year residency under a clinical nurse specialist and three excellent psychiatrists directly after graduation. This experience was the foundation of the excellent care he provides today.
Since 2009, Dr. Gerald Baltz has practiced as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in multiple settings, including hospitals, outpatient offices, addiction treatment clinics, and skilled nursing facilities.
For the past six years, he has concentrated on private office practice, specializing in treating depression, anxiety, adult ADHD, and addiction. He achieved his doctorate in 2018.
